There are kids all around the world who have less than they deserve, and four-year-old Porscha Benisano has made a mission of doing something about it. With both a mum and a dad, and other loved ones around her, her mum has made sure she understands that this is not a privilege other kids have.
While many of us feel the urge to help the poor but fall short of committing the task to action, the idea was simple for generous and insightful Porscha. ‘Let’s pack gifts in big boxes and send them to the kids!’ she insisted. And they did just that.
It was for her fourth birthday that Porscha decided she didn’t want any gifts. A mature sacrifice for any child. She decided that she’d call on the help of her friends to empty their closets of clothes they no longer wear and toys they no longer need. Bringing these to her birthday party was the gift she most wanted to receive from them.
They filled four balikbayan boxes to the brim, then sent these to the impoverished Barrio Maharlika in Cebu, and into the hands of children who will have more than they have ever had in their lifetime.
