A doomsday scenario

Prior to December 21, 2012, many people were scared that the world would end as predicted by the Mayan Calendar. Some even went to the extent of building underground bunkers with very thick concrete walls thinking that the structure was formidable enough to protect them from whatever was expected to come. There were those who went into panic buying, storing canned goods and other food items expected to last for the duration of a nuclear holocaust.

Well, it did not happen. Proof is that I am still able to write this editorial and you are able to read it.

But not so fast, my dear readers. According to the Book of Revelations in the Bible, Armageddon is a very real thing. It is referred to as the Second Coming of God Almighty. There is absolutely nothing that man can do but prepare his soul for the afterlife.

How will the world end?

Our columnist Bernie Lopez writes 3 possible apocalyptic scenarios:

“A nuclear confrontation and its subsequent escalation can happen in the blink of an eye while everyone sleeps. There may be no warning. The confrontation may be triggered by secret actions of one country. Scenario no. 1 is India or Pakistan initiating a pre-emptive strike. Retaliation will be swift. The bombs on both sides may fall within 24 hours of the first strike, millions dying in a snap.”

“Scenario no. 2 is Israel launching a unilateral pre-emptive attack on Iran without the US knowing it. Retaliation may be total and swift or protracted, depending on nuclear arsenals the Arab nations or its allies may have for retaliation. Either way, there will be retaliation, whether in 24 hours or in a decade. Genocide cannot go un-addressed forever. Once the next nuclear bomb after Hiroshima and Nagasaki is launched, Armageddon is inevitably on its way. There is no stopping it.”

“Scenario no. 3 is the US launching a pre-emptive strike on Iran, not necessarily nuclear, which may polarize forces instantly towards a nuclear situation, Iran, Russia, China, and Arab nations versus the US-UK-EU and Israel. This time it may not be instant but a first strike, the trend in the mindset of rulers beset by gnawing fear of their enemies, is the key ingredient to Armageddon.”

In his Apocalyptic Scenario, Lopez wrote: “With so many scenarios and so many possibilities of energy wars waged, once a global energy crisis emerges, the eventual use of nuclear weapons out of desperation is not that hard a possibility. The hub of oil sources in the Middle East will of course be the center of that nuclear confrontation in the name of energy. The invasion of Iraq, the possible invasion of Iran, the possible US-China confrontation in the Spratleys and the Japanese isles are all energy-related wars.”

Bernie Lopez concludes; “Thus, Berlin was bombed because London and Leningrad were bombed. Japan was nuked because of Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor was bombed because the US imposed an oil embargo on Japan. The US imposed the embargo because Japan invaded Manchuria. Hitler launched World War II as vendetta for World War I. Vendetta is the catalyst for total blind escalation, for blind anger that will fuel Armageddon.”

When will the world end?

No one knows for sure. The Mayan Calendar was wrong but it can happen anytime — hopefully, not during our lifetime. The more important thing is to have faith in God for He alone knows. He alone makes the decision. It’s not the trigger happy finger of a world leader who pushes the nuclear panic button. It is the Omnipotent God who made life possible. It is God Almighty who has the right to take life away. Nostradino
