Tagalog provinces now represented in Australia by Danny Peralta

Coming from the provinces of Bataan, Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, and Quezon, the TAGALOGS have gathered together to form an organisation called the Tagalog Association of Australia Incorporated (TAA). Former residents of the city of Metro Manila, though not a province, were also recognized as regular members of TAA as Tagalog is the dominant dialect in that metropolitan city. Tagalog has long been adopted as the national language of the Philippines.

Officers of TAA took their oath on June 27 at the Philippine Consulate in Sydney before Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis.

Purpose and objectives

TAA was founded in Sydney on 27 July 2012 with values and missions to encourage spiritual, social and intellectual activities amongst members; promote the welfare of members and their families; organize and solicit revenue for fund raising to support charity organizations in the Philippines; and provide continuous projects that support welfare needs of TAA members including charity works in the Tagalog Region of the Philippines.

The formation of the TAA in July 2012 is very timely as it marked the first Tagalog group ever established in Australia. We believe that in any organization, there must be strong leadership and team effort as these factors provide important ingredients for its success.

Commitments, professional experiences, good governance and transparency will always provide stability in running an organization like TAA. This will also continue the legacy of growth and the efficient existence of the organization as young members will develop their own confidence and self assurance to lead new members in accomplishing the goals and visions of the future of TAA.

Challenging years ahead

We face very challenging years ahead of us to lead TAA to grow and I strongly believe that: “when a group of people get together and work harmoniously amongst themselves, we would be able to accomplish great things collectively which we cannot accomplish separately.“ In any organization or business, there is always a calling — a calling to reward the confidence of those who inspired us and to build something lasting and good in the process.

If the service or work we provide is beneficial to the people, then every useful work or service is a calling and this will be a blessing for all the people we serve.
