Caricaturist & illustrator born to eternal life

World class artist Edd Aragon died peacefully  in his sleep last month on October 10, 2015.

He created a unique formula that allowed him to paint under ultraviolet light, a first in the art industry.

The Australian-based Filipino artist opened his 2nd one-man show in Sydney on October 7, 2006. His 1st was in 1985 with caricatures and illustrations published in The Australian newspaper.

Edd was often invited by celebrities, social and media groups to do caricatures of themselves. Among them was Kylie Minogue, a well-known international singer.

In 2009, he was invited by the Filipino Press Group of Sydney to do on-the-spot caricatures of members during one of its regular monthly meetings.

Mr. Aragon gladly obliged and below is the caricature that he did for this writer. It took him no more than 10 minutes to accomplish the job. The caricature is now proudly displayed in the office of Philippine Sentinel.

It will also be published in one of the pages of a book entitled “Memoirs of My Life,” the completion of which is expected latter part of 2016.

Edd will be sorely missed but will be dearly remembered as a great Filipino Australian who touched the lives of many.

Among them is Pandy Aviado, a close friend of Aragon. Aviado is an alumnus of Ateneo de Manila University who is based in the Philippines.
