Liezle Antonio still hopeful to obtain permanent residency by Dino Crescini. BS, MBA

It has been for several months now that Liezle Antonio, a registered nurse has been out of work, since she received a notice from the Department of Immigrations that her Student’s Visa has been cancelled. As a former international student at the Australian Catholic University, she was allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours a week.

While studying, she met Michael, who is now her husband. The young couple has a 6 month old baby. Through the endorsement of Immigrations, the family now receives $1,000 per fortnight from the Australian Red Cross.

Blacktown Migrant Workers Union president Neil Galang has approached a number of parliament ministers, seeking assistance on behalf of the family. He is hopeful that the family’s bid for ministerial intervention will be successful just as he was able to help the Villarosa, Angeles, Bonglo, McInnes and
Avendano families gain permanent residency.
