This is one reminder of the unkind and unsafe world we’re living in.
On April Fool’s Day, singer and administration critic Jim Paredes saw a sex video of himself go viral. I was shown that video as we waited in court for another bail posting for yet another case against Rappler, and dismissed it as a joke. Paredes himself initially branded it as “fake,” but later backtracked and admitted it’s real.
There was a time in our lives when what was private remained private. Those days are gone, and the sooner we embrace that – in our personal and professional lives – the better for our sanity.
There was a time in our lives when we knew the truth and would not be swayed instantly by false claims and manipulated behavior. Those days are gone. Your life on Facebook is a grim daily reminder of that.
