Teenagers are main suspect in restaurant theft in Doonside

Behind the smile that she wears, Teresa Chan is really furious that her restaurant was broken into twice in a row within a period of two weeks.

First, the glass door was shattered to pieces and an undetermined number of wine and liquor was stolen. One week later, after she had the glass replaced, the entire door was destroyed, presumably by the same teenage suspects. Much worse, the plasma television that was installed on the wall, together with a DVD recorder/player was also taken.

As if adding insult to injury, she reported to Philippine Tribune that she felt like a common criminal when she was interrogated by Blacktown Police who came to investigate the theft.

Magnolia Restaurant is located along Hillend Road, right in front of Doonside Train Station. Because of freshly-cooked Filipino food, the eatery has become a favourite dining place among Filipino residents of Doonside and Woodcroft.

Over the years, many business establishments in Doonside have been victims of theft and robbery; some happening during broad daylight. This writer was an eye witness to a not-so-recent incident when the Licensed Post Office owner ran after two children who stole some items from the shop. The children’s mother was waiting across the railway bridge.
